The Double Standard of Tom Digby and the Vancouver Park Board
According to the unelected Vancouver Park Board Harry Potter is hateful and wrong and celebrating anti semitism on October 7 is okay
“Tom wants to enable festivals and community events whenever feasible in Vancouver,” says Tom Digby’s Green Party biography. For those who don’t know about Tom Digby, he’s the Commisioner of the unelected Vancouver Parks Board who called an emergency meeting of the Vancouver Parks Board to discuss the apparent offensiveness of the upcoming Harry Potter Forbidden Forest, happening in Stanley Park this November.
Why did Mr. Digby feel the need to demand the Park Board apologise to the “gender diverse community”? Well, because JK Rowling once said sex is real and gender extremism harms women. She wrote a very reasonable letter and the Wokifada lost its sh1t.
A screenshot from her letter:
So, I’m not sure what’s Tom Digby’s problem. He and his Park Board colleagues cried and then disavowed JK Rowling? Really? Can they maybe grow some thicker skin?
To disavow someone is to disown them, to deny them, to refuse to acknowledge them, to repudiate them. So, Tom is mad because JK Rowling said the following?
I’ve read all the arguments about femaleness not residing in the sexed body, and the assertions that biological women don’t have common experiences, and I find them, too, deeply misogynistic and regressive. It’s also clear that one of the objectives of denying the importance of sex is to erode what some seem to see as the cruelly segregationist idea of women having their own biological realities or – just as threatening – unifying realities that make them a cohesive political class.
Why do progressive men feel so offended that female people exist as separate entities from male humans, and that males cannot become female no matter how much they desire so and what identity they talking for themselves?
“Men make the moral code and they expect women to accept it,” wrote Emmeline Pankhurst in her memoirs. A century later and things have changed and this particular thing remains the same. Men continue to make the moral code and expect women to accept it.
So, Tom Digby and his unelected colleagues of the Vancouver Park Board took it upon themselves to cast shame and malfeasance upon a Harry Potter event in Stanley Park because they felt it an affront to the Gender Brigade. They voted to prevent the event from taking place ever again. In their mercy the Digby faux outrage club allowed the Harry Potter Forbidden Forest Experience to happen as planned this year. How generous of spirit, reader! (Sarcasm).
You can see the clip from their meeting, courtesy of Reduxx, below.
“By in-camera decision dated May 12, 2025, the Park Board approved hosting a Harry Potter™ event in Stanley Park, with that event being currently scheduled to open in November 2025, which approval may not have had a robust reputational assessment at that time about its impact on the TGD2S community.”
How does a Harry Potter forest event for families and children impact the “transgender, gender diverse and Two-Spirit (TGDS),” literally what’s it to them that a Harry Potter themed event will take place in Stanley Park?
“Tom is prepared to engage all residents with a view to social equity and livability,” says Digby’s Green Party bio.
Really? Can I call bullsh1t on that? Let’s ask the Jewish community about livability in Vancouver, shall we?
Let’s look the antisemitic events Digby et al have allowed to take place in Stanley Park. Yes, reader when you’ve allowed a movement which aims to wipe Israel and world Jewry off the map to hold a hate fest celebration on the second anniversary of the worst pogrom against Jews since WWII, you’ve met the definition of antisemitism. Such events destroy livability for Jews in Vancouver because they promote hatred of Jews.
Did I miss the part where the Vancouver Park Board apologised to the Jewish community and disavowed the antisemitic faction of the Pro Palestinian community and then cried about the impact on the Jewish community of a September 2024 Palestinian flag waving event at Prospect Point?
What about for the recent October 7th anti Israel event?
On the second anniversary of the October 7th massacre, antisemitic activists held Banner Drop at Stanley Park, as part of the “week of action for Palestine.” The event marks “2 years of genocide.” That’s literally blood libellous event, it’s antisemitism happening in Stanley Park. Reader, Canadians were killed in that massacre, one perpetrated by Palestinians. Though we shouldn’t only mourn the massacre and torture and kidnapping of Canadians— anyone who saw the attack snuff videos knows the horror of the carnage that happened that day in 2023.
Where were the tears for that horrible hate fest? Where’s the apology to the Jewish community?
Did Tom Digby and his colleagues cry about these deeply offensive events and disavow antisemitism in Stanley Park? Does anyone remember the Park Board kicking up a dramatic fuss about how these events would impact the Jewish community in Vancouver?
So, once again, we see the performative antics of the ruling bourgeoisie and narcissistic progressives, who have exhibited distorted ethics and questionable values. It’s fine desecrate the memory of Canadian Jews killed in the October 7th massacre—murder of Jews is fine when we wrap ourselves in the Arab revolt flag and say “free Palestine.” However, don’t you dare try to have a fun Harry Potter event, that’s literally hateful and, as such, verboten.
So readers, when it comes to the Vancouver Park Board, a fun family-friendly Harry Potter event = bad. And a hateful blood libellous anti Jewish event that passively celebrates a massacre of Jews = good.
That’s the Wokifada for you.
Question. Who runs this city?
Answer. A pack of dishonest, amoral narcissistic, bougie progressives pretending inclusivity. Vancouver is a beautiful city run by privileged and diabolical psychopaths.
Bang on! I was just furious when I heard about the park board’s spazzing out about the Harry Potter event. Their inability/unwillingness to enforce any bylaws at all in any of the smaller local parks has infuriated me for years but this just absolutely confirms for me what a bunch of useless overpaid paper pushers they are. Tom Digby needs to pull his head out of his ass. I used to love my city where I grew up and now I’m utterly embarrassed by it. It feels like everybody drank a bunch of kookoo water one day and i was out of town or something and missed it because people here have lost their freaking minds. Thank you for all your investigating and researching and writing, its very much appreciated and I will upgrade asaicai ❤️
