Pomp and Circumstance at the CBC
In which I call bullsh1t on the CBC having a LPC biased PR communications strategist as a political commentator
Amanda Alvaro on the CBC Power & Politics commenting on the legitimacy of independent media? Really, reader? Pshaw. Phhhhfffbbbbbthbbbt. Sigh.
Okay. Okay.
Reader, stupid manipulative sh1t like this is a gift, irritating tho it may seem. I have learned to take the gift offered me and go with it.
Video Transcript
David Cochrane: The before and after. Though it needs a bit of work, it seems it does.
Amanda Alvaro: And it was sad that came out of that debate, which was a good debate. It was a healthy dialogue and it was a good discussion. But what were a lot of the headlines about today was about the aftermath. It was about the fact that these illegitimate organisations that frame themselves as news organisations took up all of this time and energy and posing questions and lining up and really preventing media from having the opportunity to ask those questions. And it's so important because people are still trying to make up their minds. They're tuning into these debates because they're looking for information. They want legitimate questions answered. They want them answered by the leaders. Instead, a number of the leaders had to say, actually, I'm not going to take your question. I refuse to answer your question. That's what Jagmeet Singh said, for instance. So I think it's a shame. And I think that the, you know, the commission did a pretty terrible job of explaining itself and must do better.
“Do better,” says the self described ninja-like comms person who’s president of a company called Pomp and Circumstance PR, awarded a $17K contract from her close Trudeau regime MP friend, triggering an ethics review.
“Do better”, says Amanda Alvaro, who also thinks she has any idea what information normal people want and what a legitimate question looks like. Reader, I just spit out my ginger beer, maybe inhaled some through my nose, as I laughed out loud.
Reader, it’s comedy gold. I’m here for it.
Reader, meet Amanda Alvaro, co-founder and president of Pomp and Circumstance PR. A longtime Liberal Party cronie, Ms. Alvaro worked as “Director of Issues and Communications” to the Ontario Minister of Education in the Dalton McGuinty government.
You may recall Ms Avaro from the Mary Ng ethics scandal. Remember that story, reader? Ms Ng, then Minister of International Trade, awarded a $17k contract to her dear friend of 20 years, Amanda Alvaro.

Reader, do you see where it says “non-competitive” for the procurement procedure?
The University of Guelph describes non-competitive as follows, Sole Source: Non-competitive process used to acquire goods or services from a specific supplier because there are no other suppliers available or capable of providing the required goods or services. Did you catch that, reader? Apparently Ms Alvaro’s firm, Pomp and Circumstance PR received the contract “because there are no other suppliers available or capable of providing the required goods or services.”
“Different contractors provided media training that were critical in supporting the minister and members of her communications team to inform Canadian small businesses, workers, and families about the supports available to them at the height of the pandemic.” — Alice Hansen, in a statement to The Canadian Press.
So, Pomp and Circumstance PR was the ONLY contractor able to provide the SPECIFIC media training services CRITICAL to support the minister and her comms staff during the Wuhan Virus Pandemic?
Sure. (Rolls eyes).
Fun fact: the only other contract awarded to Pomp and Circumstance PR was also non-competitive, “low dollar amount” given as the reason for limited tender. Procuring department listed as WAGE, headed by Maryam Monsef.
On February 17, 2021, French CBC reported on a complaint received by the Ombudsman regarding the legitimacy of Amanda Alvaro serving as a panelist on Power and Politics.
Reader, how much do people actually know about these panelists appearing on their state broadcaster’s political commentary news shows?
Amanda Alvaro, PMO Chief of Staff Katie Telford and Minister Seamus O'Regan formed a not-for-profit foundation in 2010 (Artbound), with the sole purpose of raising money for "Free the Children", now "WE Charity" (at least $400,000). In addition, Amanda Alvaro is apparently very close friends with Katie Telford and Mary Ng (Minister that appears to have been lobbied by WE Charity in the most recent scandal).
Lastly, today we learned that Amanda Alvaro has also been directly paid by the Liberal Government (at least $41,000). Her failure to disclose is a glaring breach of ethics and I believed that she should no longer be allowed the privilege of participating in a nation-wide broadcast, especially on the serious issues relating to the WE Charity scandal. — Kris Eriksen, Complainant to the CBC Ombudsman, 17.2.2021
Remember the WE Charity Scandal, reader? The WE Charity received the government contract to operate a student grant program through a sole-source, non competitive procurement process. The WE Charity had personal ties to the Trudeau family and also then finance minister Bill Morneau. The WE Charity lobbied several government ministers.
Anyway. It’s NBD, right? Ezra Levant Bad, shut up, okay, reader? Also Orange Man Bad. Shhhh.
So, reader, that’s our Power and Politics political commentator — a longtime Liberal Party comms persons who clinched a contract from the office of her 20-year friend Mary Ng and who has ties to the stinky WE Charity. And yes, that’s the Mary Ng, MP for Markham-Thornhill, whom CSIS assessed as “unwittingly participating” in a foreign interference network which included Zhao Wei, the now persona non grata PRC diplomat.
“Two national security sources indicated that a specific CSIS concern was Ng’s staff allegedly meeting privately with a Toronto Consulate diplomat to consult on China-related issues. CSIS identified this diplomat, Zhao Wei, as a ‘confirmed intelligence actor.’ According to one source, ‘We believe Zhao Wei worked with political staffers to provide information on meetings of elected officials and their whereabouts. We know staff have direction to report privately to the Consulate on Mary Ng.’
This is a critical detail hinted at in the Hogue Commission’s initial report, which, for some reason, did not disclose the involvement of Mary Ng’s staff with Zhao Wei or clarify what this implies about Ng’s position in Trudeau’s cabinet.” — Sam Cooper, 28.10.2024
Per Fife and Chase in the Globe and Mail, 12.05.2023: Mr. Zhao was responsible for keeping track of known opponents of the Chinese Communist Party in the Greater Toronto Area, including Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghur human rights activists, Hong Kong pro-democracy activists and supporters of Tibetan and Taiwanese independence … the minister’s [Mary Ng’s] assistant likely met Mr. Zhao at Chinese-Canadian community events, which are frequented by China’s consular officials.
So, anyway, you just met Amanda Alvaro. She’s a hardcore LPC comms person with one degree of separation from a cabinet minister implicated in a PRC foreign interference network, also she has connections to the scandalous WE Charity. That’s who the state broadcaster asks to comment on the legitimacy of independent media and the debate commission.
Reader, it smells funny in here. Reader, what’s that smell? Quick, someone get the Febreze!
Annnnyyyyywaaayyyy. Moving on, like we do.
Reader, it’s totes legit that the state broadcaster which receives twice the funding as the national security service uses as a political commentator a Liberal Party PR strategist who has friends in the Trudeau regime, has done sole source procurement contract work for Mary Ng, the Mary Ng identified by CSIS as participating in foreign interference. It’s totes legit that this comms person (Amanda Alvaro)—who has tight connections to the compromised Trudeau regime and the United Front (UFWD) infiltrated LPC—deigns to comment on the legitimacy of independent media outlets and the soundness of the debate commission. It’s totes legit that the state broadcaster asks a Liberal comms person with ties to the corrupt WE Charity to comment on the legitimacy of anything related to election debates or independent media.
Also, reader, I have some land to sell you.
Reader, remember how the Trudeau Regime wanted the Debates Commission? Yeah, remember it was the Trudeau regime who set that up in 2018. Anyhoo.
Media elites siting at their government subsidised news desk thrones are gonna eviscerate Ezra Levant for doing his thing, whilst grifters like David Cochrane discuss the illegitimacy of non state funded media with Liberal Party comms peeps?
Ezra Levant Bad, though. Right, reader?
How about nah, reader? Seriously, eff off with that.

Sarcasm alert — I fully expect to see push back from the peanut gallery about a fcuking Liberal Party PR/comms strategist with glaring conflicts of interest being asked to comment on the legitimacy of independent media at a national electoral debate. Please let me know when I can read or hear that commentary from the self appointed morally superior media analysts in the corporate elite throne room who determine the legitimacy of media outlets and define journalism in Canada. Snort.
“ … thinkers, keen observers, idea addicts, unapologetic challengers of the status quo and appreciators of all that is grand, noticeable and worthy of sharing … a fresh curiosity and thoughtful perspective to everything we imagine and bring to life for you and your business … long lens, an open mind and a vast range of experience … known equally for our sense of style and substance and also our appetite for the whatifs and the why nots.”
How many genders are there? Legit question.
Will you condemn the rise and acts of hate against Christians today? Legit question.
What do you say to Canadians who see your refusal to answer … as proof that a vote for you is a vote for a dangerous radical party that gaslights the public into thinking it stands against hate when its silence is instead emboldening Christophobia? Legit question.
Reader, I’m not an idiot and highly resent being treated like one. Don’t you? This is bullsh1t, I call bullsh1t. I don’t eat bullsh1t sammiches, reader. Phhhffft.
“Ezra Levant Bad” is not a legitimate position to take at this time, muppets. It’s lazy and stupid and I’m not buying it, mmmkay?
In the words of our Ms Ninja-Like Liberal Party comms aristocrat, Do better.
Reader, as a bonus, I’ll leave you with the actual Pomp and Circumstance, courtesy Edward Elgar.
Happy Caturday, reader.
The Liberals really know how to bring a sense of entitled haughtiness to their corruption.
