Olivia Chow Says Buy Canadian
it’s fine that she’s in tight with the UFWD in Toronto, that’s a necessary evil
Mayor Olivia Chow addresses corporate sponsors who pulled out of Pride, calling it “shortsighted” and suggesting it’s “because they just don’t know who they are.”
She quips, “Don’t shop at Home Depot,” recommending Rona instead, then pivots to a broader message: “Shop Canadian. We will never be the 51st state.”

So, reader. Let’s see if I got this straight. Olivia Chow, widow to Jack Layton and current mayor of Toronto, who met with a pro-Beijing, pro-CCP, UFWD-aligned group in 2023, happens to harbour some displeasure toward corporate sponsors who pulled out of pride. Still on the Orange Man Bad Canada Won’t Be the 51st State cult train of progressive stupidity, she’s instructing her cult followers and other useful idiots to Shop Canadian.
Okay, Ms Chow, Canadians don’t want their country to become the 24th province of the People’s Republic of China, though.
The Council of Newcomer Organizations 加拿大华人同乡会联合总会 is called the Federation of Canadian Chinese Associations in Chinese. When I visit the Wordpress website for this nonprofit organisation that’s received a total of $187,900 in federal funding over the past several years, I see a list of member organisations that look familiar, some names I recognise from lists UFWD organisations, such as this one, the Chinese version of which appears below in the screenshot.
The mayor of Toronto, who, in 2010, according to the Globe and Mail, slammed ‘baseless spy stories’ and scolded CSIS for claiming CCP/PRC foreign interference influencing politicians, wants us to buy Canadian, reader. That sound you heard was me falling out of my chair as I laughed uncontrollably and out loud. Does the esteemed Ms Chow mean shop at stores like Dollarama that sell Chinese made goods? Does she mean it’s fine to keep buying our mobile and other digital devices, manufactured in China by underpaid and exploited Chinese workers? Oh, that’s so much better for human rights, Ms Chow. Would you like to take your elbows up bow now, or later, Ms Chow?
Reader, can we not? Because the lies and hypocrisy nauseate and irritates me to no end.
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. — Matthew 7:5
Anyway. As usual, this organisation has a few names, because that’s how Xi Jinping and his cult followers roll, with all the hypocrisy and dishonesty they can muster. Above you can see the WeChat profile of Council of Newcomers Organisation aka CONO[dot]Ca. The United Canadian Association of Chinese Compatriots is the listed name on WeChat. In the name history you can see the supposed past names, United Federation of Chinese Canadians and United Federation of Canadians.
So, the play actor deigns to tell the peasants and pions to Shop Canadian because Orange Man Bad makes anti-Americanism in vogue. Reader ain’t that sweet? Ms Chow, hypocrite extraordinaire, cares about Canada! Reader, I’m so touched I could cry. Sarcasm Alert.
Reader, what does Shop Canadian even mean? We have a weak manufacturing base and we import a lot of stuff from America and China. Most stuff in our homes isn’t Canadian, it’s made in America or People’s Republic of China. China is a hostile foreign power seeking to influence Canada at all levels of governance. Hello Hogue Commission? Did the play actor aka Olivia Chow sleep through that stuff? Oh right she slammed it as a bullsh1t sandwich in 2010. *Rolls Eyes*.
Overseas Council of Chinese Compatriots, tho, reader. Nothing to see here, move along now. Shhh, it’s fine.
“What role can the united front play in promoting the relationship between compatriots at home and abroad?”
Necessary evil, though, reader. Everything is fine. Ms Chow really cares about Canada, Orange Man Bad, so shut up and eat your gruel like a good pion. The bourgeoisie are doing a thing, don’t interrupt their flow.
Anyway, I could blab on about how the Chinese organisation Chow met with has revealed itself to be Beijing-aligned. For instance, I could remind you of a 2019 NaPo story that reported on the “non-political” Council of Newcomer Organizations … publish[ing] a newspaper advertisement that condemned democracy protesters in Hong Kong and closely mirrored Beijing’s stance on unrest in the city.” According to The NaPo, the ad “appeared weeks before a festival co-organized by China’s consulate general in Toronto, designed in part to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic.” But, oh reader Ms Chow meeting with a group that’s a UFWD group was a necessary evil, dontchaknow. Sure sure. Hypocrites always say do as I say not as I do, don’t they, reader?
And that’s my Ted Talk for today, written from the Riverfront Park near my home on a lovely sunny Tuesday afternoon.
Slag on, readers. Freedom costs and we must always remember to keep fighting for our freedom in Canada.
Oh Canada, terre de nos aïeux. Oh Canada, my home and native land.
I ain’t no settler, reader. Canada is my country and my homeland, and, reader, I will shop at Home Depot when I bloody-well feel like it. Chow isn’t gonna stop me. No one will.
