Is Canada Engaging in Foreign Interference?

On March 3, 2023 during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, Public Safety, Public Safety Deputy Minister Shawn Tupper said about the nature of the threat of foreign interference, “It's more pervasive. It's more aggressive and the potential for damage to our democracies is that much more serious,” Tupper also noted foreign interference is not new, but that a major shift has happened in the last 5-6 years. Does politics stop at the water’s edge, like Hilary Clinton once said? How can it possibly, in this increasingly globalist world? Has multiculturalism created a porous Canadian society, vulnerable to external pressures and influences? Has the Canadian way of understatement and passivity impeded our ability to develop a solid nationhood foundation to sustain us as a society as we move through the digital smartphone social media revolution? It does, we have established this as a nation. In fact we have tried to move our government to take stronger measures against foreign interference, with little success. Americans have long had a vigilance about foreign interference. I think this exhibits healthy governance, to have a national leadership that takes measures to guard the country against foreign operatives.

So, why don’t we want for our ally Israel what we wish for ourselves?

Tough question to ponder: one day when Palestine is run by sane peace-loving level five leaders, will we be mindful of wanting what we want for ourselves for them, also?

When do the CRA Charities Directorate and the IRS 501(c) fiscal sponsorship mechanisms become accessories to foreign interference into Israeli affairs? The CRA granted Samidoun, a PFLP proxy, federal non profit status in 2020, the year Israel proscribed Samidoun. The CRA Charities Directorate has given the national muslim organisation formerly known as CAIR Canada a nonprofit designation. The IRS has given WESPAC a 501(c)3 designation and IRS 501(c) regulations allow the fiscal sponsorship of pro terrorist groups and causes. Samidoun instigated a mob that got a Jewish British Columbian MLA fired for expressing Zionist views, currently the police are investigating death threats made against Selina Robinson.

Why are Canadian and American taxpayers subsidising terrorists who actively work to destroy Canada’s democracy and subvert its institutions?

In both Canada and the USA, free expression and tolerance of other cultures demand that we allow the use of public funds for extremism, i.e. via tax exemption and government grants, both direct and pass-through. In America restrictions will elicit complaints of violating free expression, because apparently funding extremism and hate constitutes free expression there. In Canada restrictions will elicit complaints of racism and Islamophobia, because apparently to introduce counter-terrorism safeguards into the charity monitoring system amounts to systemic Islamophobia.

What about Israel? What about Palestine?

Does the Freedumb Foreign Interference Threatens Democracy We Are Under Attack choir ever think about the fact that these nations also have the right to self determination that is free from North American keyboard warrior and campus protest imperialism?

• Does it not strike anyone that the American Tide Foundations-funded PhDs who trot around Canada chanting land-back no pipelines free Palestine essentially have made an activism career out of fcuking with other people’s sh1t?

• Does it not strike anyone that dark money-funded Arabs holding rallies in Canadian cities, where organisers call for the dismantling of the west and an end to Jewish self determination, have operated under the guise of fighting anti Muslim hate?

• Does it not strike anyone that supporting any side in a religious crusade impedes Canada? Why do I need to support a military industrial complex desperate to hornswaggle me into some fear based trance in which I lust for ongoing and even multiple wars for the salvation of humankind?

• Does it not strike anyone that activism has devolved into a process in which the activist becomes synonymous with either messiah of downtrodden wretched people or destroyer of evil wretched people?

This all seems like colonialism to me, not human rights or activism.

When did human rights activism in Canada become all about imperialist agendas? Remember when charities and activism contributed to the betterment of Canadian society? Remember when we started organisations in response to a cause that needed a practical solution? You know, like Blankets for Canada, like food banks, like Salvation Army, like the Union Gospel Mission that holds events for its community and the wider local community. Remember when we did things for domestic causes and people?

Does it seem weird we have a bunch of PhDs trotting around Canada trying destroy Israel and drum up funding for Hamas et al when we have people dying on the streets, suffering neglect and poverty? Did these “activists” decide that Canadians are not worthy of their human rights work when they are pale skinned? Do First Nations people only matter to activists when they can be used to land-lock AB tar sands? What if all the poor and neglected and needy on our Canadian streets identified as forests or coastlines or Palestinians, would that make human rights activists care more and motivate them to build real solutions that empower rather than infantalise those in need?

What if an entire sector of the human rights industry constitutes foreign interference against the nations of Israel and Palestine? What if this is not an Apple versus Samsung fanboy do-gooders game for North Americans to play in our spare time? What if Palestinians don’t need a bunch of North Americans who got brain worms from post graduate gender decolonisation studies education and who don’t even know where Gaza City is on a map to “help” them achieve “freedom” … what are you freeing them from, do you know? Why not be your own Messiah, and free your mind from your brain worms?

What is the difference between activism and foreign interference in this global era?
