Alan Turing, brilliant mathematician who broke the nazi ciphers in WW2, died by suicide in 1954, following a chemical castration he received at the hands of the British Government as punishment for being gay. Throughout history gay and lesbian people have faced persecution for their sexual orientation. Homosexuality was listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Psychiatry until 1973, is punishable by death in 6 countries, and still illegal in 72 countries. The Iranian Regime punishes homosexuality by death, forcing all same sex attracted individuals to undergo sex reassignment in order to remain alive. In Iran, transitioning is gay conversion therapy.
What if Bill C-6 was inadvertently also gay conversion therapy by virtue of the fact that it criminalises a thing it calls gender identity conversion therapy, essentially anything which challenges a child’s notion that s/he is in the wrong body, ie a girl trapped in a boy’s body or a body trapped in a girl’s body. Let’s say your kid is going through a rough phase, maybe faced a trauma you don’t know about. Weird things are happening to her body, she feels like Gregor Samsa in Kafka’s novel—puberty feels weird and uncomfortable and like some weird alien demon has possessed her body. She goes to school and sits through this SOGI123 lesson about a crayon which is different on the outside than the inside. The teacher talks about how sometimes a girl could be a boy inside. The seed is planted. The answer to her problem could be that she is a boy trapped in a girl’s body.
The kid starts thinking what if that’s my deal? What if I’m actually a boy? She Googles. She finds the YouTube channels that tell her she’s trans and the brainwashing begins. She falls into the trans community rabbit hole. The cult has taken its next victim. She was sexually assaulted by some bad dudes at school or somewhere else, she struggles with bulimia and with disordered eating, she meets the criteria for several other psychological issues including post trauma response and autism.
Autistic girls are particularly vulnerable because of the tendency of autistics toward fixed and concrete thinking, and because they inherently feel alien in their bodies and they don’t feel like they belong with other females—autistic female humans always feel like we aren’t part of the sisterhood. Child and adolescent trauma responses typically involve fixed patterned responses. Anything that’s a trauma response will exhibit a flavour of urgency and desperation. The brainwashed kid who has been led to believe she’s a boy trapped inside her female body now is on a mission to destroy her femaleness in order to affirm the boy trapped inside.
Bill C-6 leaves the door wide open for interpretation of gender identity conversion therapy as the WPATH standards of care do—anything short of affirming the fixed delusion that a child is the opposite sex is considered conversion therapy. Realistically, we know there’s no such phenomenon as a girl actually being a boy trapped in a female body or a boy actually being a girl trapped in a male body. This is dualistic neo-creationist claptrap with no scientific basis. Yet, this is what children are being told and this is what parents are being forced to impose on their children on pain of accusations of child abuse and parental neglect and even removal of access to and rights over their children. In some cases schools are promoting and affirming the child’s new trans identity—name and pronouns—without the parents’ knowledge, and in some cases the child receives blockers, hormones, and even surgery without the parents’ knowledge.
Kids want to be different things and people as they grow, role play is part of self discovery. My daughter thought she was a lady bird at the age of 5 or so. My eldest son thought he was a private eye, a wizard, a feudal lord, a wilderness creature living off of berries in the forest. Imagine if I would have indulged each of these as serious identities rather than treat them as the passing fancy of a child on the spectrum. My mother tells me that my dad caught me trying to pee standing up at the age of two, because I was trying to imitate him. In fact there are pictures of a two year old me from that time period, with a major bird’s nest fro of hair on my head tied in tiny ponytails, a gold bangle on my wrist and tiny stud earrings in my ears, strutting around topless wearing just a diaper/panty and waving a crackerjack box in my hand.
Would parents of today have whisked me off to a gender specialist, rather than laugh it off and explain to me the difference between male and female? I often ask myself, and then I hear some gender specialists proudly proclaim that children the age of 2 are among their youngest clients. We are now schooling toddlers that they are in the wrong body. What on earth has this to do with gay rights or human rights of any kind? Someone please explain to me because honestly, I fail to grasp.
“The assertion that it is easy for a child to transition in Canada or that medical transition happens without rigorous oversight is also bunk. For children in Canada, they and their parents would first have to start by speaking to a medical professional and likely a gender therapist. For children transitioning, changes are usually 100% social; that is, how they act, how they dress. It is only under the strict oversight of medical professionals that someone could access even reversible interventions like puberty blockers. In terms of gender-affirming surgeries, by way of medical practice standards in Canada, they do not really happen before age 18 anyway.”
“Some have expressed concerns that the bill could prevent a trans person from “detransitioning”.
First, this is a phenomenon that rarely happens. A U.S.-based survey by the National Center for Transgender Equality found that only 0.4% of respondents detransitioned after realizing transitioning was not what they wanted. The rest who reported detransitioning, 7.6% of the 28,000 people surveyed, reported the reason for that as another reason, most often because of pressure from parents.”

What, pray tell, is Gender Identity Conversion Therapy, Ms Rempel, or any of the other 304 MPs who voted to pass the Bill after its second reading? Specifically what measures constitute “conversion therapy”, can anyone voting for or championing this Bill tell me? So far, I receive no answers when I ask for clarification. What are we criminalising? Can we have a list of specific measures we are criminalising with Bill C-6? Bill C-16 has enshrined into human rights legislation the rule of gender identity—making it a human rights offense to question or ignore a person’s self identity—and Bill C-6 wants to criminalise anything that seeks to convert a child’s gender (self) identity, despite the fact that a child’s “gender identity” is very fluid due to a number of psychosocial factors and the fact that sexual expression continues to metamorphose and develop until the completion of sexual maturity. Gender identity in children and adolescents is not fixed, and therefore there is no such thing as Gender Identity Conversion Therapy.
Ms Rempel denies that Bill C-6 will criminalise private conversation, mentions the Charter covers uncoerced conversations. That doesn’t provide assurance! Seriously, your daughter comes home one day from school and announces she’s a boy because the school counsellor told her she’s trans and that you must honour her new identity or else you’re abusing her and she spews manipulative deranged some gender cult diatribe she was coached to say, and you don’t think it’s a parent’s duty to push back a little, or gently challenge?
It isn’t clear to me that questioning this kid’s new identity as a boy wouldn’t be perceived as “coerced conversation”—how far do we infringe upon parental rights in the name of the state religion called Gender Identity and pretend to call it gay and lesbian rights? Failing any clarification, the Bill as it stands seeks to criminalise any and all measures designed to question a child’s gender identity and enforce puberty blockers, cross hormones, and unnecessary mastectomies and hysterectomies—eugenics, essentially: irreversible treatments which compromise the sexual function and fertility of the child.
Can we have assurances other than that isn’t happening, or I don’t read the Bill that way? Also, where is Ms Rempel getting her information? Children are indeed being given puberty blockers and cross hormones and this is not a medical oversight, it is a deliberate decision made by zealous gender affirming doctors. Where is Ms Rempel getting her information about detransitioners? Has she bothered to seek out or listen to their stories? It isn’t rare and it isn't by way of parental pressure. It is a failure of the promises of the panacea of gender identity and transitioning to fix the problem.
To remind everyone in the room what’s happening, here’s a very raw and heartfelt video by a journalist named Brandon Showalter. This is a war against humanity, make no mistake. That’s no hyperbole. When they come for the children, I consider it war.
