Honestly, who is surprised at the acquittal of Donald Trump by the US Senate? Maybe only Americans, apparently the last to know themselves. Being a Canadian, for me America has always felt like that drunk elephant sharing a bed with a mouse—the elephant in this case, drunk on it’s own hubris. Ask an Iraqi or anyone from Latin America—they all know this is America. Now America has begun to rule itself the way it ruled the rest of the world and surprise, Americans feel uneasy about it all! Awwww, boo hoo. I feel only blind rage for America as an entity right now.
The Globe and Mail did a giant feature on 100 people who died of drug ODs in Canada last year. Last year ODs claimed the lives of over 5000 Canadians. In British Columbia alone, over 1700 people died. The OD epidemic has raged in this this province officially for four years. Nearly 18 years ago Insite opened and that would supposedly solve everything. Riiiiight. Here we stand, deadliest year on record and still not many people truly truly arsed about the underlying causes of addiction compulsion. Corpses are easy to cry over, aren’t they? Do you get a dopamine hit, tearing your shirt and performing your dramatics? None of this lot would have the same smug and self righteous look of disgust as everyone else if they walked past me 11 years ago as I was standing in a DTES alley pushing another crack rock into my pipe, and sucking back that poison through some steel wool, or crawling around on my living room floor, trying to tell the difference between silica cat litter pellets and crack rocks. So please save those crocodile tears for your latte friends. They don’t work on me, I got too much street-cred for that drama. When the fad is over, you’ll all go back to not giving a fcuk and saying stupid sh1t like they chose to do that to themselves. Pul-leeese. Stop.
It’s snowing in Vancouver, just regular snow. Cue the drama queens calling it a storm. Because that’s how things roll on the left coast. Such little resilience and such high histrionics in this society—it’s tiresome.
A human rights commissioner apparently wants to defund the police and put the money into affordable housing. Can someone explain to her how fiscal economics works? Also, when she faces an attack or a break-in, she’s happy to call the housing hotline, right? Cool beans.
I don’t find it helpful to beat the dead horse that is the Trudeau government’s initial approach to the pandemic and vaccine procurement. We live in the present and it feels like doomsayers want to built a shadowy cave for us to live in. I can feel the manipulation oozing from the media and various personalities. People resist so flippantly because they sense the manipulation and smell the dishonesty. We live in a society that dehumanises and Covid-19 has become another weapon with which to dehumanise. The need to win moral superiority has gotten in the way of reality and honest truth.
We keep hearing sermons from safetyists about “the cost of human life” and then we also hear sneers of “selfish asshat” or similar when that chap violated the rules to keep his card shoppe open. What’s “the cost of human life”, then? Can we honestly keep ignoring the reality that, for many individuals, livelihood = life?? We continue to ignore that perspective—it erodes trust because it smacks of disingenuousness and elitism to ignore the real economic concerns of humans, which are associated with more psychological distress than is exposure to the virus, according to a recent study.
Human beings are hardwired for co-regulation. That means we require physical presence and human touch to regulate our nervous systems. We are innately social creatures. Solitary confinement is considered a cruelty for a reason in this day and age. Yet we pat ourselves on the back for the pandemic shutt-in we foisted upon vulnerable humans. Don’t get me wrong, at a point in time, lockdown was necessary. However we have only ourselves to blame for those poorly ventilated Homes for the Useless we erected to warehouse humans we decided to throw away. Performative guilt helps only the ones who perform the guilt. When the performance ends, the problem remains.
A recent Scientific American article blathered on insufferably about the penis and how men and women do not differ anatomically. How have we gotten to the point where wokester pseudoscience has now captured mainstream institutions, and has seemingly intelligent individuals with quality education parroting such disingenuous bollocks?
A local feminist recently entered a contest for ‘trans women’ … she figured since the new reality tells us TWAW then it logically follows that WATW. The contest holder rejected her entry because, apparently, no, women are not trans women, says the wokester. That’s brilliant—it says exactly what everyone already knows. That humans are not sequential hermaphrodites and no male ever becomes a woman regardless of any pharmaceutical treatment or surgical procedure taken. Reproductive class, i.e. sex, remains the same no matter how a human identifies. That’s objective reality and fact. The cognitive dissonance amuses me and anyone harbouring that level of self denial clearly has deep-seated emotional issues to address. I tire of being made responsible to provide validation for self loathing individuals who cannot seem to transform their own demons into life and living.
Dog owners who let their dogs sh1t in playground sandpits really need to stop that minging behaviour. It’s selfish and disgusting.
Watching the IDW implode has amused me greatly. I especially love the hypocrisy of the characters who routinely and almost comedically scream free speech and cancel culture every time a reckoning comes to light, when these same characters also firmly side with the anti-BDS anti-Zionism is anti-Semitic brigade. It’s almost like they only believe in free speech for their own tribal interests, like all other identitarians do. Hmmm, imagine that … right wing polemicists masquerading as serious intellects turn out to be identitarians. Who knew?
No, Foucault isn’t ruining western civilisation. He’s been dead for nearly 37 years! No, he wasn’t a postmodernist, he didn’t even know what that meant! And, no, he’s not responsible for identity politics or queer theory—he loathed the notion of identity. Queer was a slur in his day for a gay man. He was of the generation of men whom AIDS so cruelly took from us. He’s the most cited scholar for a reason. That Helen Pluckrose and her sycophants have trouble comprehending the words Foucault actually wrote, if they even bothered to check a primary source, isn’t my problem.
Women condemned to death by hanging would have their sentence “commuted” to death by burning alive, to preserve their modesty—since hanging meant exposure of their naked female body, burning alive was preferred because their nakedness would remain covered as they burned. How lovely the men were looking out for us!
Some chap named Valentine met his execution on this day hundreds of years ago. Naturally Christian societies celebrate this execution with chocolate and flowers because that’s western culture for you!
